Events...
Pearce Hire has extensive experience in special events having successfully served events both indoors and outdoors over the last 20 years.

With Health & Safety being more and more in the forefront of organisers minds Pearce Hire have made a significant investment of both time and money to ensure that documentation and policies are up to date as well as to ensure it’s staff are trained to ensure that all relevant legislation is complied with and often exceeded. All of our equipment is tested on a regular basis, and all of our onsite installations are vigorously tested to all of the relevant standards.

Contact one of our project managers today to find out what we can do for your event, or take a look at some of our past work in the Case Studies section below.

Motorhome Shows

Each year Warners Exhibitions (sister company of Warners Publications who publish Motorhome & Motorcarvan Monthly, Out & About Magazine & Which Caravan) stage a series of five Motorhome Shows at venues around the country. The shows are a mix of an exhibition where visitors can catch up on the latest in Motorhomes and accessories in the large trade area, and a gathering for Motorhome enthusiasts with entertainment provided in the evenings.

Pearce Hire have been supplying lighting sound and power to the shows for the last 10 years starting with just a couple of shows a year and expanding into the series of shows that it is now. Pearce’s involvement varies on the Power side as some of the venues have their own infrastructure in place which Warners must use, but on other occasions such as this years Northern show the site is a green field (or largely brown field site!) which needs all power distribution and generation bringing in, some sites requiring up to 30 generators to supply all areas of the site including campsites.

In addition to the power Pearce Hire also supply lighting and audio for the entertainment which is often held in large Marquees or sometimes indoors depending on the site. Taking the recent York show as an example we dressed the building with 300m of drapes for acoustic and aesthetic purposes. The stage was lit with a combination of intelligent moving lights and traditional lighting for performances by artists ranging from local acts through to family entertainer Des O Connor. An L-Acoustics PA system using a combination of ARC’s, 115XT HiQs and MTD 108 speakers ensured high quality audio was distributed efficiently throughout the venue.

Bird Fair

Pearce Hire has been supplying temporary power and site PA equipment to the British Birdwatching Fair for over 12 years. In this time we’ve seen it grow from a handful of small marques, to an internationally recognised event housed in 17 large marques and attracting over 18,000 visitors over the three days of the event.

This year a team of 6 electricians headed up by Pearce Hire’s project manager John Huson transformed a quiet green field site into a bustling exhibition site. Over a 5 day period they installed over 14Km of cable and 150 distribution units to supply power to the 300 exhibitors, in the main exhibition tents. In addition to these Pearce Hire also supplied ancillary areas such as the Food Court and Coffee Shop as well as ticket and car parking gates. All site power was supplied by a synchronised pair of 455Kva generators.

The wet weather once again presented a challenge to the crew on the load in, and load out as well as during the show. Despite the torrential down pour on one of the show days Pearce Hire managed to maintain the electrical supply throughout the event.

In addition to the site electrics Pearce Hire also supplied a site wide PA system for general and safety information to visitors, this alone consumed 2Km of cabling and was controlled using XTA processors to enable each tents to have it’s level individually controlled.

Pearce Hire also supplied lighting and audio systems to the two lecture marquees and to the events marquee where many famous faces from the birding world met with members of the public.

Being the biggest event of it’s type in the country the power requirements are fairly diverse and the site requires 24hr standby cover.

In 2008 Pearce Hire supplied a total of 20 generators powering 5 stages, video screens, market traders, sponsor marquees, plus the usual welfare requirements such as first aid, catering and lost children etc. In addition to this Pearce Hire also provided lighting for all marquees and working areas across the whole site.

Each year Production and control are installed in advance of the main contractors arriving and for this reason Pearce Hire send an advance team to power up the production offices, crew catering and security.

An engineer stays with the initial production to deal with day to day changes. The engineer also liaises with the site manager and our main office to advise on any changes that may occur prior to our main equipment and crew arriving on site. This ensures that any required changes in the equipment supplied, can be dealt with at an early stage resulting in a more efficient service to our client.
